For a Samsung washer, 5E or SE error means there is a draining problem. The washer cannot remove the water properly, so the cycle may stop before it finishes.
Start by checking the drain hose for kinks or blockages and make sure it is installed correctly. On front-load models with a drain pump filter, unplug the washer, drain the remaining water, and clean the filter. Coins, lint, hair, small clothing items, and other debris can restrict the pump.
If the filter and hose are clear but the washer still won’t drain, the drain pump, internal hoses, wiring, or control board may need testing. Using too much detergent can also cause excessive suds and interfere with draining, so use the correct HE detergent and the recommended amount.
