Most dryers don’t have a reset button. To reset one, cut the power.
- Electric dryer: switch off its double breaker, or unplug it, for about a minute. Then turn it back on.
- Gas dryer: unplug it for about a minute. Leave the gas on.
Then close the door firmly and press and hold Start for a couple of seconds.
If it still won’t start, the usual causes are a faulty door switch or a blown thermal fuse. On many dryers, the thermal fuse blows when the dryer overheats, often because the vent is clogged. So have the vent cleared too, or the new fuse may blow again.
