Usually, it’s the moisture, grease, or a burner cap that isn’t sitting right. Any of these can interfere with the spark system and make the igniter keep clicking. It often starts after cleaning the cooktop.
Turn the burner off and let it cool. Lift off the cap and dry the cap, burner base, and igniter. A hair dryer can help. Then wipe the igniter and base with rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip. Go easy because the white porcelain tip can crack. Set the cap back flat and line it up with its notch.
If it’s still clicking, or clicking with every knob off, a wet or stuck switch behind the knob, a loose igniter, or a bad spark module may be the cause. Book stove repair to get it tested.
